Aloha!

Established in 1862, our church has endured and is still serving our faith community for over 150 years.

On July 29, 2012 we observed our 150th anniversary with a Mass celebrated by Bishop Larry Silva, leader of the Roman Catholic community of the Hawaiian Islands. Several hundred people were in attendance for this most sacred and special occasion, many having travelled from afar to this, the most remote church location on Maui.

The Friends of St. Joseph – Kaupo needs your financial assistance to replace the aged and deteriorating church roof. This is our most pressing concern. In late 2013, the most heavily damaged upper section of the roof was replaced with new cedar shingles through the generosity of many who shared in our mutual concern. Our priority now shifts as we begin to address the weather damages caused to the interior of the building, primarily the ceiling.

As we proceed, we are reminded it takes the efforts and goodwill of many to accomplish this goal. Will you help us preserve and maintain this very unique, historically significant and special place of worship? Our primary support for this project comes from those like you who visit these grounds.

Yes, these are difficult times. However, imagine for just a moment if nothing is done. It is our hope and prayer that you hear our plea and will help us. Any and all donations are sincerely appreciated.
